We have had a couple of very relaxing days in Inverness. I can't stop sleeping. I have napped every day and slept like a log at night. It is pretty cold out. I am sitting by a nice warm fire. We are taking lots of hot baths
Yesterday we took a walk around the neighborhood in the morning.
Had lunch and shopped at the Good Earth grocery store in Fairfax.
We saw a great t-shirt
Our good friends Amy and Rishi invited us over for dinner and games. Very difficult jigsaw puzzle, 1000 pieces - Van Gogh's Starry Night. We did not get too far.
I slept in til nine this morning. So relaxing here. We had a snack and bath and I convinced Beth to take a drive up the coast with me in Snowflake (our white car - not to be confused with Hell Bitch, my truck).
We took a leisurely drive up Highway One. Through Pt. Reyes Station, Tomales, Valley Ford and Bodega Bay. Beautiful countryside. Cows, calves, sheep, deer. Green grassy hillsides.
We stopped and walked on a couple of beaches. Cold and windy.
We ended our journey in Jenner, near the mouth of the Russian River. Stopped at one of my favorite places for clam chowder, Cafe Aquatica. They have croutons that taste Atomic. They are so good I can't think of another word to describe them. I usually hate croutons.
I need to give Beth smiling lessons.
I took a slightly different route home, east on Highway 116, down the Russian River. I caught a glimpse of my parents old cabin in Duncan's Mills. Abandoned and overgrown. My dad always dreamed of having a place on the Russian River. He finally got one in about the late 70's or early 80's. We had fun there until it flooded in about 1984. My college friends from Andres Castro Arms threw me a surprise birthday party in 1981. Fond memories.
We turned South on the Bohemian Highway at Monte Rio, thru Occidental. Memories of family style dinners at Negri's Italian restaurant, as a kid.
Back to Highway One at Valley Ford. Back to our Inverness cabin for a nap before a simple dinner, blog, book and bedtime. Return to SF tomorrow.
