Had a nice walk and coffee with Beth this morning. We did two laps at Salesforce Park, a four block long urban park in downtown San Francisco, built over the new transbay bus terminal. Coffee at Andytown adjacent to the park. Very enjoyable. Salesforce Park is a must see in San Francisco. Reminiscent of the Highline in NYC; but better in my opinion. Great landscaping. Well designed. Clean and attractive.
Spin class over the lunch hour at Equinox. I am holding my own against the youngsters. 3.0 power to weight ratio today, for those in the know. Getting to know the people and instructors. Comfortable.
Spent the afternoon in the East Bay. Took two crabs to my sister, mom, brother and family at the Gorelick compound in Berkeley. Cleaned them for them. Then off to my grocery Mecca - Berkeley Bowl.
If I get a vote, Berkeley Bowl is the finest grocery store on the planet. The produce section is bigger than most grocery stores. The variety and assortment of produce is mind boggling. They probably have seven kinds of cucumbers. I could go on and on. Decent prices. Great dairy, fish, meat, deli, prepared sushi, etc. I will often make a special trip from SF to shop there. They have so many unique things there that you can't find anywhere else.
Back to the city for a Bordeaux wine tasting with Bonnie Goldsmith, Beth and Bonnie's friend Jayne. Interesting venue. Terra Gallery at Harrison and Fremont. I was not overwhelmed by the wine. Bonnie thought they were good. She knows wine better than me.
Ran into a young workers compensation defense attorney who I had a few cases against. Friendly chit chat. Told her I had retired. She was with some people who I had met before. One of them lives in our condo complex. She says to everyone, "Barry and I had a few cases against each other with similar issues. Barry, the cases seemed to be very difficult. Why do you think that was?" My response: "It was you". Honest. Very satisfying.
