A Big Surprise

Today turned out to be a big day for me.

I had two parties: my law firm's holiday party and my local workers comp attorney group holiday part. I got up early and went to a spin class to get that out of the way.

Beth and I went to the ferry building this morning to get a few gifts and have a cup of coffee.

I packed for my trip to LA tomorrow. Then, I schlepped out in the rain to BART and trekked over to Chez Panisse for lunch with Jeff Wolfert and the work staff. So much fun to talk about old clients and tell war stories over delicious food and champagne.

I BARTed home and met up with Beth. I was a little surprised that she wanted to go with me to the California Applicant Attorneys holiday party. Its no fun to go to a party where you don't know that many people and all they want to do is talk about work.

Later on, I found out why she wanted to go. They honored me with a lifetime achievement award.

I had no idea that I was getting it. How humbling and heart warming to get recognized for a lifetime of work. I fought hard for my clients and the rights of injured workers in California. It was like getting a gold watch upon retirement. I am so happy.

Winter Hibernation

I'm really tired. Please wake me in April. Good night. Winter hibernation starts now.
