Read the Label

Easy weekend in Inverness. Beth and I did a lot of gardening. Enjoying the last few of our tomatoes.

I am becoming more aware of my own anxiety. I think it was this that pushed me at work and kept me from sleeping  all those years. I might be exaggerating about  the sleeping. I slept ok but did wake up a lot. I probably averaged six hours for the last thirty years. I am not doing much now and sleeping much better.

Back to my anxiety. I always feel like I am in a hurry to get somewhere. Or that I’ll forget about something. I am beginning to realize that whatever I was in a hurry to get to or remember wasn’t really that important. So what if I’m late. I am trying to develop “so what” mind. It is helping me be more relaxed and happy. I am purposefully taking pressure off myself.

The other day Beth and I had an argument. After a while, we argued about which one of us was more argumentative. No one is going to win that one. I think we better go to couples counseling for a ruling.

Beth is going to San Quentin for her meditation group with the prisoners less and less. (No I am not making this up). She has been going for about ten years. The point here is that she is giving me her self defense whistle.

I wanted the whistle for riding my bike across the golden gate bridge. It is often the most dangerous part of my ride. The narrow bikeway is crowded with tourists taking pictures and selfies. I got a bell to alert people. The bell sounds like something off a barbie bike. Nice but not very loud. I once saw someone with a whistle. That really got people’s attention. I can’t wait!

Saw a great movie tonight. Parasite. A Korean movie. Won the Palm D’Or at Cannes. I recommend it. A dark comedy about the interaction between a poor family and a rich family. When you watch the Oscars in February, you'll likely see it as a contender for best foreign film.

I had been clearing my throat and did not want to do it at the movie, which we saw at the Kabuki Theatre in Japantown. Stopped at a japanese market for some hard candy. Label completely in Japanese.

I could tell from the label that it was lemon flavor and had 2000 mg of vitamin C. I saw that it had a triangular warming of some kind with an exclamation point.

A bit sour. Beth took the picture. Sweeter days to follow.

Winter Hibernation

I'm really tired. Please wake me in April. Good night. Winter hibernation starts now.
