You Look Too Young to be Retired.

Another day of CAAA Strategic Planning. Powerful, inspiring words from a legislator, Monique Limon.

She is an assemblywoman and member of the Latinx Caucus. She told the story of her father, a 40 year hotel employee and his struggles with the workers compensation system. He hurt his arm at work. He feared reporting his injury, losing his job and employer retaliation. He, like most people hurt at work would rather be working than on disability.

We discussed the difficulty our clients experience in getting basic medical care, due to legislative changes since 2004. There is little that can be done without legislative change. If nothing else, injured workers should have access to adequate medical care without delay. They are not getting it.

We heard from Rusty Hicks, the chair of the California Democratic Party, former head of the Los Angeles Federation of Labor.

He talked about how what California Democrats can do to win back the White House: Be an example - e.g. moving up the primary; Export our resources, money and talent, to other states to make calls, walk precincts and influence voters to the best of our ability. Hicks is young and progressive. Not an establishment guy in a suit.

Dinner with some other applicant attorneys. One commented: you look too young to be retired. My dad would be proud of me.

Downtown Sacramento at night. Back to SF tomorrow.

Winter Hibernation

I'm really tired. Please wake me in April. Good night. Winter hibernation starts now.
