Drove from Sacramento to Inverness yesterday.
So tired from 3 day board meeting, where I sat, listened, thought, ate and drank. Successful meeting for me. I was present. I participated. I learned. I felt engaged. I felt valued.
This morning, we did a six and a half mile walk in Point Reyes. The Tomales Point Trail. Lots of Tule Elk.
Very excited. We are going to walk the Camino de Santiago next year. Five hundred plus miles - all the way across Spain. Originally a religious pilgrimage. Still so, but popular with the masses, whether walking for religious reasons or not.
Last night we watched two movies about it. One about an angry lady whose husband cheated on her and dumped her. She walked to forgive. The other, a Hollywood production, The Way. Written by Emilio Estevez, starring his dad, Martin Sheen. It was pretty good. I would recommend it to anyone considering the Camino.
We previously watched another documentary called Six Ways to Santiago. Also very good. They followed six “pilgrims” along the entire route.
Stopped at West Marine for some crabbing supplies. At the checkout, a young couple asked the clerk for help finding a special holder for a champagne bottle being used to launch a vessel. I tried to imagine what kind of vessel they might be launching.
Got home to SF and picked up the mail and TWO books about the Camino!
So much to learn. We invited our friends Mayumi and Erika over next month to pick their brains about the Camino. They did it a few years ago and are going again in September 2020.
I considered todays hike in Point Reyes a training walk for the Camino. I think I am in shape and could walk the Camino tomorrow. Beth - not so much. She is my delicate flower.
Started reading one of the books about the Camino. I’ll dream about the Camino tonight. Did I mention that I am VERY EXCITED! The planning for a trip is more than half the fun. The anticipation. The unknown. The adventures to come.
