Sorry no blog yesterday. I did practically nothing. I was uninspired. We just had a chill day in Inverness.
The most strenuous thing I did was a jigsaw puzzle. Unfinished.
I ate my last banana. I have been eating bananas daily for about a year, for breakfast and snacks. Mark Gaydos told me to read the NYT Sugar Challenge. The point of the article is to eat less added sugar. They encourage fruit intake. However, they say avoid bananas and grapes. No more bananas. I am eating lots of apples and satsuma mandarine oranges.
Thomas is leaving Nashville. Headed for a few days in Memphis. He'll pass near Muscle Shoals. If you have not seen the documentary Muscle Shoals, you are in for a treat, if you are a music lover. Some of the best music from the 70s and 80s was made at a little studio in Alabama. The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paul Simon, I could go on and on. Watch the documentary!
Oh yeah, Thomas - he'll be all alone in Memphis. Kate, his daughter got sick and could not join him. He brought a photo out of the vault. A reminder or a trip he and I took around Europe in about 1982. We got a haircut in Rome. At the end of my haircut, the barber, who spoke no English, pulled out a lighter and singed the ends of my hair. I was scared as hell. I think Thomas laughed about it. Here we are with our Roman haircuts. I think we took this photo in one of those old fashioned automated booths that you put a quarter in, sat down and closed the curtain.
Beth and I made our way back to the city today. She wanted me to get her something for dinner from the hot bar at Woodlands Market, downstairs from our condo. I FaceTimed her from the bar so she could see exactly what they had to eat. One man thought it was a great idea. Believe it or not, another man was taking pictures of the food and texting his wife for the same purpose. What we do for our beloved.
We ate the last of our Oatly (vegan) strawberry ice cream. It is so good I practically had to fight Beth over the last bites. I am finding some VERY good vegan ice cream. The above and Jenni's Chocolate truffle ice cream. I guess it is not really ice cream. You wouldn't know it by the taste. Yes, I realize that I should not be eating ice cream. Here I am sweating over bananas and grapes. What a hypocrite!
I am having some feelings of boredom and lack of purpose in my life. I'll re-read my book How to Retire, Happy, Wild and Free.
I sometimes feel like I finished the test too early. Everybody else is still at their desk, working at the test. I am sitting at my desk bored, with nothing to do, or nothing that I need to to. There is no way that I am going back to my old grind. Too stressful. I'll figure it out. Whatever I am feeling is self inflicted and solvable.
News alert: New member of the family. Peg's new dog Cooper. They look pretty happy together. She, Cooper and Bill watched Lady and the Tramp tonight. Can't wait to meet him.
